Translate with your own key, no subscription.AI Translate BYOK is a WordPress plugin that translates posts, pages, SEO fields and categories through your own OpenAI-compatible API key (OpenAI, Claude, OpenRouter, local models), links translations in Polylang or WPML and saves them as drafts for review — $27.99 one-time. The single-post translator is free.
How the numbers are worked out
Plans: the cheapest plan whose yearly word allowance and language count fit your site, on the vendors' public pricing pages as checked on 29 September 2026: Weglot (USD, yearly billing; translated words count once per language), TranslatePress (EUR, AI words included per year), WPML (EUR, AI words included; beyond them you buy extra credits). They're recurring: the subscription (or credits) has to cover every new post you publish too.
Own API key: list prices per million tokens on 29 September 2026 — OpenAI gpt-4o-mini $0.15 in / $0.60 out, Claude Haiku 4.5 $1 in / $5 out. We assume 1.4 input tokens and 2 output tokens per word per language (non-Latin scripts use more), then double it to cover prompts and re-runs. You pay it once per word; a new post costs cents.
Prices change and taxes aren't included: check the vendor before you buy.
