This dataset covers basins with an active glacier feeding a lake — it does not cover every mountain valley, and does not model sudden events outside its simulation.
What these scores mean
Each basin carries four scores (1–5) from the source simulation: Hazard (physical likelihood/severity of an outburst), Vulnerability (how exposed the terrain is), Exposure (people/infrastructure in the flood path) and Risk (the combined verdict). The map shows the simulated flood extent polygon for the scenario selected — the same shape the source paper computed hydraulically, not a buffer or an estimate drawn after the fact.
Limits, stated first. Resolution is per-basin, not per-village: the score applies to the whole simulated catchment, and distance to the basin centroid is shown above. The simulation is a 2026 projection under SSP climate scenarios, not a forecast of a specific date or a warning of an imminent event — it does not model sudden ice-dam collapses or earthquake-triggered events outside its own hydraulic model. Coverage concentrates on basins with an active glacier feeding a lake; many inhabited valleys near glaciers are not in this dataset at all, and a "no data" address does not mean zero risk.
