EGMS covers most of continental Europe on land; it does not cover open sea, and coverage thins toward some coastlines and mountain edges.
What this number means
Every value comes from repeated Sentinel-1 radar passes over the same ground, compared wavelength by wavelength (InSAR). A negative number means the ground measured at that exact point has moved away from the satellite — typically subsidence — at that many millimeters per year, averaged since 2018. A positive number means uplift. Precision is sub-millimeter per year for a single point; real-world causes include groundwater extraction, mining, peat compaction, permafrost thaw and tectonics.
Limits, stated first. The measured point shown is the nearest EGMS measurement to the address, not the address itself — the distance is shown above, and can be up to a few hundred meters in low-density areas. EGMS only measures land with a stable enough radar signature (bare ground, rooftops, infrastructure); dense vegetation and water have no coverage. This tool reads the same public dataset the official EGMS viewer shows — it does not add error bars beyond what Copernicus itself publishes per point (RMSE). The risk class shown (Low / Moderate / High) is our own banding on the observed velocity range for this dataset — not an official EGMS or geotechnical classification.
