Privacy

Short version

No account, no tracking cookies, no advertising. Using the free map needs nothing from you.

What stays in your browser

The map position lives in the page address (so a link to a place is a link to a place). Your language and, if you subscribe, your Pro access token are kept in your browser's local storage. Data you add on top of the map stays in your browser unless you choose to share it.

What the server sees

Like any website, the server receives your IP address and the pages and data tiles you request. These logs are used only to keep the service running and to count visits in aggregate, and are deleted after 30 days. Place searches are sent to the geocoder (Photon, by Komoot) with the text you typed; map tiles are fetched from their providers, who also see your IP address.

Payments

If you buy Pro, Stripe processes the payment and receives your email and card details under its own privacy policy. LayEarth receives from Stripe only your email, the subscription status and the amount โ€” never the card number.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and complain to your data protection authority. For a Pro subscriber that means the email and subscription status; ask from the email you subscribed with, in reply to your receipt.
