How this is measured
Every aircraft broadcasting ADS-B reports how sure it is of its own position (NIC, Navigation Integrity Category). An aircraft in flight reporting NIC below 7 has lost its precise satellite fix; when many aircraft in the same place do so at once, the GPS signal there is being jammed or spoofed. Once an hour LayEarth reads every airborne aircraft over this region from the adsb.lol community network and counts them in 1° cells. Built 2026-10-11 06:26 UTC; the live map shows it as it is now.
