Open in the app

What it shows

Wind at cruising altitude as measured on board by aircraft in flight. Each airliner derives the wind from its airspeed and GPS ground speed and broadcasts it over ADS-B together with the outside air temperature. Arrows show direction and speed, and can be filtered by altitude band.

Where the data comes from

ADS-B wind and temperature fields from the adsb.lol community network (regional views only); polled every 12 seconds.

Reading the map

Arrow colour is wind speed, from pale blue (calm) through green and yellow to red (about 216 km/h and above). Arrows point downwind.

Units Wind speed in km/h; altitude bands below 3 km, 3 to 8 km and above 8 km.
